Tom hale is Arcadia's preacher. He works in the church and has a simple life. That is until his "dead" girlfriend who is having his child comes back from the dead. He finds her in the church and tells her to stay low. Her return and pregnancy secret got out one day when everyone gathers at the church on Sunday morning.

Despite his yearning for a child with his wife and their difficulty in conceiving, Tom Hale was happily married until his dead girlfriend comes back to life. Her return had revived his love towards her. His wife is sadden to see how emotionally attached he still is with Rachel. His wife temporarily leaves him when Rachel discovers that she is pregnant with Tom's child ( that was conceived before she had committed suicide).
